The m3ter origin story
John Griffin and Griffin Parry founded m3ter ("meter") in 2020 after years of experience in the usage-based pricing (UBP) space. At GameSparks, their first startup, they used UBP pricing strategies as part of a successful go-to-market. After Amazon acquired GameSparks in 2017 they worked as senior product and sales leaders at AWS, who successfully deploy UBP at scale. They founded m3ter to help B2B software companies manage and operationalize UBP effectively. m3ter is backed by leading investors Union Square Ventures, Insight Partners, Kindred Capital and Notion Capital.
m3ter integrates with existing systems and combines pricing with product usage data to calculate customer spend, on demand. Every month it sends data through the finance stack to make billing painless and eliminate revenue leakage. At all moments in between it surfaces usage data directly in the CRM to enable informed customer conversations, and in the Product so customers have visibility into their spend.
